At every launch, Disk Health analyze your disk finding every single file that can be cleaned. This operation usually take few seconds, then a circular graph animation will shows you some data:
Violet bar represent the used space.
Green bar represent the portion of used space you are about to delete.
Gray bar represent the free space.

Cleanable space depends on what you choose to delete from undelying list. Every selected item (switch colored in green) will be erased. By default Disk Health shows theese folders as selected: Application caches, Application logs, Browser cache and Trash.
Download, Mail Downloads and iOS Update are unselected.
Large Files and Old Files need a little more attention: clicking on the right arrow you access to the list of files and you can select manually every single file to delete.

4 – Cleaning Process

Pressing the CLEAN button you will be introduced to the cleaning process with the advice to make a backup first. Backup is strongly recommended because you can’t recover the cleaned data: they are not moved in the Trash, they are erased permanently.
The cleaning process is fast and safe, then your hard disk will be larger, and healthier!

About Large Files and Old Files

Large Files

Clicking the right arrow at the line “Large files”, brings you to an ordered list about the largest file on your disk. You can preview them on the top screen simply by clicking on a file. You can also preview them by pressing space (using the standard OSX Quick Look). Moreover you can open the enclosing folder by clicking the lens icon lens icon
If you want to delete some of those files, simply activate them and press DONE. Returning to the main view you will see that now the line “Large files” is selected (green switch), this indicates that you are deleting something from that list.

Large Files

The line “Old files” works the same way of “Large files”: press the right arrow to see the list of the oldest file on your disk. You will be surprised about some really godforsaken stuff. You can preview them on the top screen simply by clicking on a file. You can also preview them by pressing space (using the standard OSX Quick Look). Moreover you can open the enclosing folder by clicking the lens icon lens icon
If you want to delete some of those files, again, simply activate them and press DONE.

Duplicate Files

Duplicated Files

For duplicated we mean files with a different filename, a different date but the same content.
To scan and remove duplicated files, click “Duplicates” on the upper tab, then drag over the folder or the disk to scan. You can drag multiple folders and disks at the same time. This way you can detect also files that are duplicated across multiple devices.
After the scan, every file is listed with the filesize and the number of clones on the right. Clicking on a file, the row will expand showing all the clones and allowing you to choose the ones to remove.
